Seeing Double

The next squares come as a pair.  I think it's amazing how just changing the colours creates a very different look.  They are the Hibiscus and Candy Petal squares from Tangled. I prefer the Hibiscus square as I think the contrast between the pinks is more effective.  I had to re-do part of one of the squares as I miscounted and ended up with an extra double treble 2 together (dtr2tog).

Spiky

My next Disney square is this blue and white one which is meant to represent a flower from the film 'Frozen'.  I think some of these links to Disney are tenuous at the very least! It uses spike stitches which I don't think I've used before.  I'm hoping the looser tension will not effect the blanket once it's all joined together.

Popcorns Galore

My next Disney crochet square is this 'Snow White polka dot' one.  The red bobbles are made with a popcorn stitch which is a real yarn-eater.  The red yarn is meant to be strung across the back but I thought that looked messy so I carried it with the blue in places and then strung it across a smaller space.  The result is much neater.

I've actually done this square before but in a different colourway, I think it was 'Cinderella's polka dot' very original!

On a roll

I finished another square yesterday, it's meant to represent a festival flower from the movie Coco.  The colours really pop against the black background.  You can't see so well in the photo but the pink flowers are actually made up of two colours - a hot pink and a fuchsia which I think adds to the 3D effect.  Strangely though, this square is quite a bit bigger than most of the others so joining could be fun!

1st crochet of the year

Two days in a row!! Let's see if I can keep it up!

I've been doing the Disney crochet part work for over a year now, it will eventually make a large throw, but have got behind because of Christmas crafting so I'm making a concerted effort to get caught up.

This square was almost finished on New Year's Eve but as I hadn't slept the previous night I had to give up and go to bed early, I even slept through the fireworks 🎆🎇!!  So I completed it on New year's Day and I must say it's one of my favourites as I really like the 3D effect.

New Year (again)

I was ashamed to find out I didn't post even once during 2023, even though I did LOTS of crafting.  In fact this is a list of completed projects divided into various categories.

No promises, but I'm going to try and post each completed project on here as well as writing it in my book.  Let's see how often I manage it!

Canvas

I havebeen obsessed with Outlander since I discovered the series in October 2019 whilst stuck at home alone during a bout of one of my many illnesses.  I was literally hooked within the first couple of minutes, and that was before I saw the gorgeous Sam Heughan who plays Jamie Fraser!  I binge watched the 4 seasons which were available at the time and have re-watched several times since because it never gets old, even though it is mostly set in the 18th century haha. I'm eagerly waiting for season 6 which is released on March 6th.

Anyway Rebekah, my eldest, painted this little canvas for me for Christmas and I absolutely love it!  It's of me and Adam done in Outlander style.  I'm so glad Bekah has taken to doing painting again, it has a calming influence on her, just as crochet does with me.  I'm a firm believer in expressing creativity in whatever form you're able and that everyone has that capacity within them, it's just a case of finding your niche.
